Irises have recently been gaining more attention as a lovely garden plant as well as an exquisite cut flower. There is lots of appeal to irises that make them a great addition to any garden. One of the first things that I appreciate about irises is the unique form that the flower provides to the garden. Their blousy rippling petals flow so nicely throughout the garden or a bouquet.
They are a very large (6”) striking bloom that commands attention in the garden or in an arrangement. They also bloom early in the garden around the same time as peonies or just before.
Irises are also perennials and quite hardy here in our zone 3 garden. That means you can leave them in the ground and they will multiply quite quickly as they come back every year. They are also deer resistant, can withstand tough growing conditions, and are easy to grow.
Check out our “Growing Irises” page for more info about this flower and caring for it.
All irises are grown right here on our zone 3 farm following organic practices.
Add some extra beauty & joy to your garden this year with irises!
